
Tourism has a major impact on the New Jersey economy. It represented $16.5 billion of state GDP in 2011, 3.4% of the state economy and generated $4.4 billion in state and local taxes and $4.8 billion in federal taxes. Tourism directly supported 312,000 jobs and 486,000 indirect and induced impact jobs. Leisure tourism represents 84% of industry sales in New Jersey. Domestic visitor market comprises 89% of tourism sales in New Jersey.
