The Community Cars began as a pilot project in North Arlington and was funded by the National Center for Senior Transportation (NCST).
Following the successful introduction, the service has been expanded to serve seniors and their caregivers who reside in any of the following communities in Bergen, Essex and Hudson counties:

Hudson County
- Kearny
Bergen County
- Lyndhurst
- Rutherford
- East Rutherford
- Hasbrouck Heights
- Hackensack
- Wallington
- Carlstadt
- Moonachie
- Wood-Ridge
- North Arlington
- Teaneck
