In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Meadowlink provides Safe Routes to School programs to schools and municipalities. Our goal is to assist communities in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Passaic and Union, in developing and implementing projects and programs to encourage walking and bicycling to school while enhancing the safety of these trips.
Safe Routes to School programs in the United States usually includes one or more of these approaches: engineering, enforcement, education, encouragement. Our services include:
Encouragement Events including bike rodeos, International Walk to School Days and other activities;
Education Programs to outline the health, safety and environmental benefits of walking or biking to school;
Walkability Audits to assess pavement condition, traffic patterns and intersections for “pedestrian friendly” features;
Program Development to plan and execute comprehensive Safe Routes to School programs; including
Grant Writing to assist towns and schools in identifying funding sources, gathering data and shaping proposals; and
Grant Administration and Implementation to guide you through state and federal documentation requirements hold events and launch your program.
