What is EZ ride Community Cars?

      It is a membership-based transportation program for older adults aged 60 and better.  It provides door-to-door service in well-marked cars from Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm.  Volunteer drivers provide personalized rides for any purpose.  This service is currently available in North Arlington and Lyndhurst with plans to expand to other towns in the near future.

 

How is it different from other transportation programs?

      1. We use safe, reliable and well-marked cars.
      2. It is volunteer driven and community supported.
      3. There is no restriction on trip purpose.

How does it work?

  1. All riders must register as members to ride.
  2. Reservations are made at least 24 hours in advance.
  3. Discounts are offered for shared rides, early bookings (48 hours), and recurring trips up to a maximum of 50%.
  4. You have the choice of having fees deducted from your personal transportation account or being billed monthly.

What does it cost?

  1. Membership fee-$15 paid annually.
  2. Trip fees:

      $5 for one-way rides within town.
      $8 for a ride to a neighboring town
      $10 for anywhere more than one town away, but within a 5 mile radius.

  1. Discounts applied up to a maximum of 50% of a trip fee.

      25% discount for 48 hour advanced reservations
      25% discount for shared rides
      25% discount for recurring trips scheduled in advance

What are the guidelines?

  • Riders should require only minimal assistance and be able to meet the driver at the car.  Service animals and small assistive devices will be accommodated.
  • Medical appointments should preferably be made between 10am and 3pm.
  • Companions/aides may ride for free as long as their pick up and drop off destinations are the same as the rider’s.
  • Pick up times will be estimated at the time of reservations with the rider taking the responsibility to contact the office if there is a change in time.
  • Upon making a reservation, it will be determined whether the driver will  “stop and wait” or make a return pick up at a designated time.
  • Additional stops may be made with advanced notice and with an additional charge of $2.
  • Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled ride or you may be charged for the ride or a minimal fee.
  • There are no restrictions on the frequency of use of the service.
