Why volunteer? We couldn’t do it without you!
Many older adults are no longer able to drive or do not have access to transportation within their community. In order to support their independence, CarShare provides rides with their Community Cars Program allowing them to have transportation to essential medical appointments as well as life enhancing activities. Giving them a choice not to drive and offering a less restrictive option allows older adults to remain active and involved in the community.
Volunteer drivers are the key providers in this program. You give the gift of mobility by providing rides to seniors in well marked program cars. These rides link seniors to critical services and activities necessary for a healthy, productive life.

2. Volunteers in programs operated by voluntary, nonprofit agencies and organizations are immune to civil liability as long as they are acting in good faith within the scope of their volunteer responsibilities.
3. Your insurance rates will not be increased just because you volunteer as a driver.
4. Insurance companies cannot cancel, or refuse to renew, your personal auto insurance policy because you are a volunteer driver.
5. If your passenger falls and is injured as they walk to or from the car, insurance coverage is the same as if an accident occurred while entering the car.
6. Liability “follows the vehicle” so CarShare,Inc.’s insurance provides coverage. Personal injury protection coverage benefits will be provided by the passenger’s automobile insurance. If they have no insurance, then CarShare’s personal injury protection insurance will respond. |
